The Wallace Side Kick
Standing behind the group just admiring Wallace as he bounced easily while he sang a little tune and every fourth or fifth beat that trade mark side kick would launch into his partner’s ribs.
It wouldn’t hit very hard, Wallace didn’t want to hurt his partner but it was accurate and all of us knew that he could still push it through those ribs if needed.
I’ve been fortunate to train with this man many, many times and he’s a genuine treasure. He’s got a heart for people and truly loves sharing his knowledge, which is amazing to say the least.
Being a fighter first and a teacher second myself, he and I relate well. Just watching him conduct his seminar is thought provoking. For me I look back at my career and think, ‘If I’d worked the side kick that way I may have not a lost that one,’ or ‘If I’d used the hook kick in that manner, I could have hit that guy with my straight left.’ All these what ifs keep running around my mind.
It’s water under the bridge now and you may have some too. Just remember, the last thing to go is timing and often we aren’t in control of life timing, so just be thankful where you are now.
Check out his short clip from the Superfoot Seminar this weekend at my dojo. I tell you, he’s one of the best and if you missed it. Try to catch him somewhere soon. You’ll be glad you did. I’m only gonna leave this up for a short time so check it out while you can and while you’re there subscribe to my channel on youtube.
